The Person
Personal narrative, creativity, and human connection
Reece is an artist, musician, and curator of many social media profiles. She has performed and volunteered within her community since the age of 15. In recent years, Reece has started modelling for local fashion houses, as well as offering free content creation to uplift the businesses in her community.
Born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, she grew up immersed in art and culture. Her family has many artisans who sell their goods at local galleries and craft sales. Reece used to travel with her grandmother to rural northern art sales, as well as selling her own handcrafted goods alongside them.
Reece also travelled far with her family, including road trips through the many provinces and states of Canada and America. She would go on cruises exploring more tropical countries, and even cruise in Europe. The diverse bonds she has made through these travels enriched her knowledge and understanding of others and where they're from.
Her long-standing relationship with depression has shaped how she shows up in real life and online. In all honesty, without her hardships, she would not be where she is now.
Reece values making connections within communities, especially ones she calls her own. It is her goal to grow and build while uplifting others and enriching her own future.
The Fall
Art and storytelling as a lens for understanding culture and identity after tragedy
Reece has recently battled the worst of psychosis. In short, it looked like ripping relationships apart and disconnecting from her reality completely.
Though it was the hardest thing she had to battle in life so far, Reece found solace in the arts. She has always been a pianist, but now she is writing her own music. Reece has also started making lots of pottery as a form of therapy.
About a week before her psychosis started, Reece uncovered information about her adoption that surprised and affected her deeply. She is still on a private journey discovering where she came from.
The Grit
Life, Betrayal, and Hitting Rock bottom
Reece's psychosis was caused by the aftermath of sexual assault and excessive drug use to cope with it. This wasn't the first S/A Reece faced. No matter where she looked for safety, it was rare for her to find it. This is part of why she is so focused on her current craft and life path.
Psychosis was life-altering.
Reece realized the power social media has after posting multiple times daily during psychosis. Over 30 social figures had seen what she was posting, even when it did not make any sense. Even her social media insights increased, meaning the amount she posted and the addition of a viral reel increased the number of accounts that saw Reece's profile. Who saw her profile while it was delusional and disorganized.
As stated above, her friendships faced altering issues. Reece completely lost who she was and what she stood for, which is why, now that she is out of psychosis, she is working hard to restore the bonds that were broken and build further relationships that she can uplift, and that can uplift her in return.
The Vision
Musical Vision, & My Brand's Next Chapter
Reece has been compiling media and music. Her goal is to be an artisan who can sell goods that can fund her dream of playing live music to large audiences.
Musically, Reece is making as many songs as she can before she goes to school for music. She wants to have a raw foundation of songs that come straight from her soul and pain, before she begins to restructure her thought process with music theory. She has worked up to theory 4 with Canada's Conservatory of Music, which you can read about here, though she still wants to relearn what she mostly forgot due to psychosis.
In addition to her original music, she will soon be selling art as merch, including her pottery. She will also be collaborating with locally and globally sourced brands which she aligns with. You may see her do brand collaborations, photo shoots with other photographers, and show how she lives life.
Reece's brand, Reeceabella, is all about uplifting others. It is about helping those who have faced discrimination by offering a safe space and making art to protest the issues directly. It's about helping those who have hit rock bottom not feel so alone in recovery, whatever that may look like to them.
Values Reece & her brand Reeceabella resonate with include: confidence, stability, love, peace, healing for the self and others, freedom, safety, and trust.
Reece recognizes that she can't reach all her goals instantly. Instead, Reece is moving forward in her future while prioritizing these values as often as she can.
